For the past 25 years, Perry, Georgia has been home to the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter where the Georgia National Fair is held every October. But right next door sat 240 acres of land that was barely developed and ripe with potential.

The idea for a multi-purpose village on this land seems to have been conceived in September of 2006 in the Joint Comprehensive Plan for Houston County and Cities of Centerville, Perry, and Warner Robins Community Agenda.

The Loudermilk Companies purchased the land in May and took over the project in June of 2016. The company clearly has big plans for the land situated near one of Perry’s biggest tourist attractions.

The Loudermilk Companies’ website states: “The Agricultural Village is a mixed-use property… that offers a dynamic mix of select retailers.”

Over the years, a few businesses have come and gone, but not many. Brannen Outfitters, Microtel Inn & Suites, and Perry, GA Ford are some of the most notable businesses to stick around.

A few months ago, a new Waffle House was built, along with some fancy streetlights, sidewalks, and signs deeming the area The Agricultural Village. Along with the new Waffle House, there are also immediate plans for a Stripling’s General Store. The failing and boarded up gas station sitting next door was torn down to make way for the general store.

Additionally, the Companies have planned to develop 276 more acres about 5 miles away, and they intend to call that The Perry Preserve. The development date has yet to be decided.

Perry, Georgia is a small town with much potential. With many plans to build up inside of Perry and many of the surrounding areas, tourists will find many more reasons to stop and stay in Georgia’s progressive Houston County. A county that prides itself on being a welcoming City of Ethics.

For more information on the future of The Agricultural Village and The Perry Preserve, visit their project pages on The Loudermilk Companies website. The contract and development plans for the Agricultural Village can be found on the Houston County database held by Clerk of Superior Court, Carolyn V. Sullivan.
